“ah ha” Calendula
Calendula… what a sweet friend! Where do I even start. On the farm calendula has been one of our best selling herbs. She is a lot of work and takes a lot of time to harvest and dry properly. The Calendula we have been growing here is nothing like what I had been buying from other places before I started growing. She is BRIGHT, HAPPY, STICKY and smells so STRONG of medicinal RESINS. I’ve had many moments where calendula has been my go to herb. My favorite way to use calendula is in oil. I fill a jar with dried calendula and then fill it with olive oil and let it sit for at least 4 weeks. She is GREAT skin medicine! Anything from burns, eczema, fungal issues, or just pure skin nourishment. The experience I’d like to share today in particular is her anti fungal magic!
I wear muck boots pretty much year round. We live on a farm, they are easy on and off. And its usually muddy, especially lately. Anyways I’ve only had a foot fungal issue one other time I can think of and for some reason it always happens in the winter for me. I guess I’m usually wearing socks so my feet don’t breath as much as they do in the summer. Well one day I noticed my toes were itchy, especially at night, I took a shower gave them a good scrub and for the next couple days they were still itchy. I tried coconut oil which is also anti fungal, didn’t really bring any relief. Well one evening I remembered I had some calendula oil and I remembered it was anti fungal, I gave it a shot, rubbed some infused oil on my itchy toes and… I kid you not TWO days later my itchy fungal issues were gone! “Ah Ha Calendula” Thank you sweet friend.
